Cold feet are uncomfortable. Can you imagine coming inside with wet, cold socks on and sitting around in them waiting for them to dry or warm up?
Dry dirty feet are uncomfortable, too. On a walk on a warm day your Coton's feet pick up dirt, bacteria, and yeast as well as sticks, seeds and all kinds of uncomfortable stuff.
Here's a wonderful thing to do for your Coton after coming in from a walk.
Get a small dish pan (about $3) and fill it 2 to 3 inches full with lukewarm water and dip your Cotons feet in it when they come inside.
This warms up rain cold or snowy feet, cleans debris that can become lodged between the toes, melts snow and ice and washes off things that can cause your Coton itching and pain. It also cleans off the dirt, mud and gunk so they don’t track it through the house.
Splash some water on those private parts, too. Gently pat the feet and private parts dry.
Your dog will love this ritual and will sometimes wait for the tub of lukewarm water when they come inside and climb in gratefully.
Don't use water that's hot or even warm as it causes itching and can "burn" cold feet. Lukewarm is perfect. A little low heat from a blow dryer and your Coton is a happy dog.
