USACTC Question:
What if I do not want my dog(s) that are currently registered with USACTC, Inc., to be included in the stud book that is turned over to AKC?
AKC Answer:
Contact president@usactc.org in writing with your request; include your name, address, USACTC registration number of dog(s).
USACTC Question:
When the stud book is turned over to AKC, other than the dogs that our members have requested not to include, will our members have to pay a fee to re-register their dogs with AKC FSS stock, and/or will they receive a pedigree? How does this work?
AKC Answer:
The club may gather and do a onetime submission of the dogs that the breeders/owners desire to have enrolled in the AKC Foundation Stock Service for which there will not be a charge. Please make certain addresses are correct. Upon processing the owner will receive and AKC Foundation Stock Service Certificate, this does not include a pedigree.
USACTC Question:
Our breeders have contracts on some of their litter registrations saying that prior to releasing any paperwork to the buyer, their puppy at the appropriate age must be health tested prior to releasing the blue registration paperwork to the buyer. Some of this health testing is at 2 years of age. Some are held till the puppy is spay/neutered, of which can be up to a year. These are just two examples of our breeders holding the blue slip. I do feel it is proper to help our breeders fulfill their contract. Some of the buyers may not want an AKC registered dog.
AKC Answer:
At this time the USATC is turning over the dogs that the breeders wish to have enrolled in the AKC Foundation Stock Service, that are USACTC registered. If the dogs are not registered, they will not be turned over. The breeders may keep their contractual agreements with the puppy buyers. In the future when a litter is registered with the AKC Foundation Stock Service the breeder may have the same contractual agreements with the puppy buyers.
USACTC Question:
Is it possible for USACTC, to accept single registration dogs that their litter has already been registered with USACTC that has been turned over already with the Stud Book? With this single dog registration by USACTC, if it is still within the time frame that the stud book is still open, with the owner’s permission we could turn over the single dog registration to AKC.
AKC Answer:
I believe I have answered this above.
USACTC Clarification:
I think this means that if Breeders have blue papers (registration papers) that are withheld for whatever reason, the breeder can still keep their contractual agreement, and if the single registration is within grace period before the stud book is closed, the single dog registration will go in with the Stud Book at no charge. If the single dog registration is after the stud book closes, the owner of the single dog for registration may apply for pedigree from AKC. This will be a charge for pedigree.
